On June 25th, just last Friday – the only remaining in former Soviet Union untouched full-body statue of Josef Stalin was taken down in his hometown in Georgia. While visiting with a tour-group the downtown of Gori on June 26th, 2010 – the day after, we could only see the remaining bare pedestal infront of the city council building. The statue itself is said to be undergoing some kind of restoration, after which it will be installed in the courtyard of the House-Museum of Josef Jughashvili (Stalin’s real last name), that functions in Gori since very 1953, when it was first open. Gori’s main avenue, called after Stalin, will also change it’s title soon…
